IE6ifty

IE6 is slowly going to the history, but all web developers will remember the pain that it caused. Currently, worldwide usage of IE6 is down to 11.6%.

Anyway, if you ever want to experience the IE6 pain again then visit http://ie6ify.com/ and play with the fire.

Enjoy. :)

How I Work Less and Accomplish More (by Managing My Energy)

It’s really hard to find decent productivity advice these days. Most of the productivity ‘gurus’ are self-proclaimed and offer techniques that aren’t backed up with any evidence.

Getting Good with Git: Free eBook!

Getting Good with Git: Free eBook!

Before this book I only heard about GitHub, a social place for developers but I wasn’t too much around it. Now, when the book is out I realized that there is a big world behind the word “Git”. I’m slowly going through the book and learning all about Git. Anyway, if you are familiar with Git, or you never heard about it, go here and download this awesome book written by Andrew Burgess.

So, you want to learn about Git, the fast version control system? Then you’ve come to the right place! In this eBook (free for the month of October! Usually $10), I’ll be guiding you through the sometimes-confusing waters of using Git to manage your development projects. The eBook clocks in at a solid 104 pages.

Everything you Need to Know About Finding a Developer

Hiring a developer can be much more difficult than hiring a designer, especially if you’re not familiar with code. With designers, you can easily look at their portfolio to see what kind of work they produce, but even if a developer shows off their code, it’s not always easy to tell how good or bad of a developer they are.

The quality of a developer’s code is very important, but how can tell the quality of it, if you don’t know what you’re looking at? How can you tell if they’re going to be great to work with? Lucky for you, everything you need to know about a developer can be easily found in their online persona.

jQuery Live Login inspired by Google Instant Search

We visit thousands of web pages and log in to hundreds of them. Always the same thing is repeating every single time. You enter username, press tab, enter password, press Enter key or click on a button.

I was inspired by Google Instant Search and I will demonstrate how we can build log in functionality without having to press Enter or click a button. This is fairly simple task and using jQuery and a touch of PHP, we can achieve this in no time.

How to Customize the WordPress Admin Area

Great article on how to customize your WordPress admin area.

WordPress is one of the best CMSs out there — if not the best (but of course, I’m biased because I’m a WordPress fanatic). It has loads of handy features that make site administration a breeze. WordPress is a publishing platform with a comment system, a GUI for creating, editing and managing posts and pages, handy built-in tools like the “Export” feature to back up your content, user roles and permissions, and more.

Hello Code Divers!

Hello, and welcome to Scuba Code. Many people advise that you shouldn’t make this kind of post (introduction), but I wanted to say few words about this blog.

Here’s the list what I’ll be posting here:

  • Web development tricks, tips & tutorials
  • Great & useful links about web development
  • Anything that I found on the internet and want to share with you

So mostly (everything) will be about XHTML/CSS, Wordpress, jQuery, Javascript, PHP and other stuff connected with web development. This is not my personal blog so I won’t be posting what I’m doing, what I’m eating etc. You can read that kind of stuff on my Twitter and Facebook profiles.

I thought for few months about creating a blog and I decided to do it. Most of the high-end blogs are not interested in things that I want to share with the community (article is too short, too basic, or some other reasons). Also this will be my “Online HDD”, so if I forget some piece of trick or code, I’ll be able to find it fast.

Now something about the title - Scuba Code. I think that you all get what code means (for you who doesn’t, it means, well code (XHTML, CSS, JS, PHP…) :) ). Scuba is connected with Scuba-Diving as I’m a big lover of the sea, fish, scuba-diving and other things connected with aqua-marine world.

I hope that you will enjoy reading this blog and also learn something.

P.S. This design is just temporary.
